Who doesn’t love to watch an elderly couple taking a stroll on a beautiful, sunny day? (unless you’re the one on the bike trying to hurry around them!) Personally, I think it’s one of the sweetest things I’ve ever seen. If your relationship is strong and trustworthy, that will be you and your spouse one day. Hopefully minus the cane!
Working on your marriage (or relationship) should be a daily habit. It’s not just something you do when times are tough. If you want to have a good partner, you need to be a good partner. Understanding your mates needs and expressing your own is the key to success. You must have communication. And effective communication begins with honesty.
Being best friends is one of the most important blocks to build on. If you cannot share everything, or laugh and cry with them, that is an element to work on. Never stop being friends. Continue doing things together, especially if your relationship is in a rut. Do not let small things accumulate and build into resentment.
If you need to, set goals. Write down things that you would like to accomplish and see happen. Don’t forget to give it 100% every day because nothing happens over night. Always remember to live with acceptance, not criticism. Nobody benefits from negativity. Following these simple steps will help ensure a healthy, long lasting friendship and relationship.
